The SBI (Single Burning Item) test assesses the contribution of a product to a fire in a situation in which a burning object is simulated at a corner of an area and in which the nearby wall surfaces are exposed to a flow of heat. The test item is located against two vertical walls that come together at right angles. The short wall has the dimensions 0.50 m x 1.50 m and the long wall 1.00 m x 1.50 m. The test item is exposed for 20 minutes to the flames of a triangular burner located in the inner corner of the test set-up. The burner has an intensity of 30.7 ± 2.0 kW.
